How you can help Chile’s earthquake victims

Our hearts go out to those who are suffering in the aftermath of the massive earthquake in Chile on Saturday. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee is accepting donations to provide relief to survivors.

“JDC will leverage our strong partnerships in the region, including the local Chilean Jewish community, to provide a quick and effective response to the needs of those affected,” said Jeffrey Schwager, CEO of the JDC.

CJP Provides Support for Local Haitian Families and Earthquake Victims

Carol Lobron, chief operating officer of (CJP), delivers a $5,000 check to Lou Woolf, president of Hebrew SeniorLife. The donation will create grant opportunities for the 450 Haitian employees of Hebrew SeniorLife. The money will help these local families support their relatives and friends who lost so much when the earthquake hit Haiti. In addition to this donation, CJP has raised more than $300,000 to support the efforts of Partners In Health and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee in Haiti.

Lives changed by emergency education grant

For Jewish families facing dark economic times last year, CJP’s distribution of a $1 million grant from the Jim Joseph Foundation was a ray of hope. This funding was earmarked for needs-based Jewish education grants, and allowed hundreds of children to attend summer camp, stay enrolled in Jewish day schools and grow by leaps and bounds in pre-school.
